Healthcare, manufacturing, and agriculture are some of the thrust sectors that Ethiopia is looking at for investments from India, said Fesseha Shawel Gebre, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Speaking at the inaugural of a two-day conference on Advanced Manufacturing using AI, ML and Innovation to Empower MSMEs, organised by WASME in partnership with the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, and the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA), Mr. Gebre said about 650 Indian companies have invested in Ethiopia, making India the second-largest source of foreign direct investments in the country.
According to Hemanth Sharma, special officer in the Ministry of MSMEs, these units contribute to 20 % of the GDP. In order to support MSMEs that are entering the export market, the government provides financial support to participate in international trade fairs, organises conferences on new technology, and build capacities.
