Addis Ababa — Artificial intelligence platform Claude, developed by Anthropic, is now officially accessible to users in Ethiopia, marking a significant step in the country’s integration into the global AI ecosystem.
The rollout allows Ethiopian users to directly access Claude through web and supported applications, removing previous geographic limitations that had restricted availability across parts of Africa. The move places Ethiopia alongside a growing list of countries gaining access to advanced generative AI tools, amid intensifying global competition in artificial intelligence led by firms such as OpenAI and Google.
Claude is designed to assist with tasks ranging from writing and research to coding and data analysis. Known for its focus on safety and alignment, the platform has positioned itself as a strong alternative in the rapidly evolving AI assistant market.
