Ethiopia has taken another major step in its ambitious push to transform the Lake Tana corridor into a premier tourism destination, with the inauguration of the Felege Gion Eco Resort by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh.
Located in the historic city of Bahir Dar, the new resort is designed to position the region as a high-end yet environmentally conscious tourism hub, combining modern hospitality infrastructure with the natural and cultural richness of Lake Tana.
A 4.5 Billion Birr Bet on Tourism
The Felege Gion Eco Resort represents a significant financial commitment, with total investment estimated at 4.5 billion birr. Completed over a construction period that stretched roughly two and a half years, the project reflects Ethiopia’s growing emphasis on tourism as a driver of economic diversification.
