Hello, I’m excited to share my journey of starting an online shop and selecting the right E-commerce website for my needs. When I decided to sell my crafts online, I conducted thorough research to find the most suitable E-commerce platform for my small-scale products. My primary criteria were low fees and easy setup, as I wanted to avoid any listing or monthly charges as a beginner.
After comparing various well-known E-commerce platforms like Etsy, Shopify, WIX, and Weebly, I found that while Shopify, WIX, and Weebly were user-friendly and customizable, they all came with monthly fees, which didn’t align with my budget-conscious approach. I then explored deeper into my search and discovered WordPress and WooCommerce.
WordPress/WooCommerce offered an excellent solution, though it may be slightly more expensive if you hire someone to build it for you. However, I decided to take matters into my own hands and found a plenty free YouTube tutorials guiding me through the process of building a complete online shopping platform.
WordPress is a powerful website building tool that caters to various types of E-commerce websites. Using it for my online store was straightforward: I purchased a domain name, installed WordPress, and configured the WooCommerce plugin. Next, I selected a theme to customize the appearance of my store, added products, and started selling. The best part about choosing WordPress/WooCommerce was that I could avoid any recurring fees associated with- unlike platforms like Shopify, Etsy, or Wix. This allowed me to keep my costs in check.
Additionally, WooCommerce offered discounted shipping rates for my products. Whenever I received orders, I could buy USPS Priority Mail Shipping labels directly from WooCommerce at a reduced price, making the shipping process convenient and cost-effective.
