Ethiopia and South Korea Push Forward on Massive $1.7 Billion Development Partnership

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia Today), July 7, 2026: The Ethiopian Ministry of Finance, Korea Exim Bank (KEXIM), and project execution agencies held a high-level tripartite meeting in Addis Ababa to accelerate the rollout of transformational projects funded by South Korea’s Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF).

Co-chaired by State Minister of Finance Semereta Sewasew and KEXIM Country Chief Representative Sunmyung Hwang, the discussions zeroed in on fast-tracking the implementation of ongoing initiatives and streamlining the upcoming pipeline of new projects.

The bilateral partnership witnessed a massive boost last year with the approval of approximately $1.7 billion in projects, covering critical national sectors such as energy, road infrastructure, irrigation, healthcare technology, and higher education.
